Couple Wins $1 Million at Gila River Casino Because Dog Sitter Canceled
Many individuals feel annoyed when the dog sitter backs out unexpectedly, spoiling their weekend trip. At least one couple in Arizona is not upset.
Michael H. and his spouse, Betty — as recognized by Gila River Resorts & Casinos — intended to go to Puerto Peñasco, a vacation destination on Mexico’s Sea of Cortez referred to as Rocky Point or “Arizona’s beach.”
Instead, they had to remain at home and won $1,033,590 playing a Wheel of Fortune slot machine at Santan Mountain in Chandler on Saturday, May 3.
Typically, Mike and Betty place bets at Santan Mountain on Sundays, as stated in a Gila River press release, but Betty was disappointed about not having their beach trip, so she proposed to Michael that they leave a day sooner.
“I’m glad I listened to my wife,” Michael said.
Gila River states that Michael is a veteran of the Army and served at American Airlines for 27 years before his retirement. He currently operates a shuttle bus for a senior living facility.
The pair states they intend to utilize the funds to purchase a new house and dedicate more time to visiting their grandchildren, who reside in another state.
Reasons Winners Rarely Disclose Their Complete Names
If you’ve ever questioned why many jackpot winners choose to stay anonymous or use just their surname initial, it's not due to casinos wanting them to keep their identities hidden.
Frequently, they provide substantial incentives to persuade jackpot winners to disclose their complete names for marketing and media purposes, like the press release mentioned earlier.
It boosts the belief that jackpots are achievable for ordinary individuals.
However, the majority of winners choose not to disclose their luck to lawyers, thieves, or, even worse, family members who suddenly appear asking for money.
For Michael and Betty H., sharing as much of their names as they did likely indicates they'll require a new dog sitter.
